Personalized Travel Cases

For Lilliana’s birthday party, we wanted to do something creative for her party favors. We came across the idea to create personalized travel case station. We were able to get the travel cases on discount for less than $1 each along with adhesive patches similar to Stoney Clover’s for about $.50 each. We then set up the station for Lilliana’s friends to enjoy. And for less than $2 per case, it was the perfect trendy activity her friends enjoyed!

The kids are literally obsessed with this new wooden rainbow activity bird that we picked up from @happymonkeymiami this week and how could they not be? There’s so many fun activities to do with this board and this is just the beginning. This past winter, we had a few updates done to our home. One of my favorites is our kitchen backsplash and I have been getting questions from some of you about it so I decided it was easier to make a post about it. We did not use traditional backsplash but instead used individual tiles from @tilebar. I love how the geometric tiles reflect shades of whites and grays depending on the lighting. The tile we used is called Exagoni Dimension 3D Blanco Matte Ceramic Wall Tile and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I then styled the space with my favorite essential oil diffuser, Sonos speaker, and espresso machine.

Today, we are headed to a mini weekend vacation to celebrate my birthday. We haven’t been on vacation in over a year! So I put together some must have sensory toys for the kids to keep them occupied. Here are a few favorites:

▶️ 𝙿𝚘𝚙 𝙸𝚝𝚜 are a favorite in our household. Remember how fun it was to pop bubble wrap as a child? This is a more sustainable option.
▶️ 𝚆𝚊𝚡𝚎𝚍 𝚈𝚊𝚛𝚗 is also a great for crafting and sculpting letters, shapes, objects, and more!
▶️ 𝚂𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚃𝚘𝚢𝚜 are great to suction, build, and pop off the windows. The larger version is great for teethers too.
▶️ 𝚆𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚋𝚘𝚊𝚛𝚍 is fun to draw pictures, work on writing, or to play tic tac toe.
▶️ 𝙿𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚝 𝚋𝚢 𝚂𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚔𝚎𝚛 is great for children who know their numbers or just need a little assistance to do so. It also helps with motor skills too.

It’s been a while since I shared a fun activity and I wanted to share what we came up with for Earth Day. This activity is super simple and can be done a couple of different ways:
➡️We added food coloring to water water and used eye droppers to drop the mixture on a coffee filter to re-create the earth.
➡️Alternative activity: You can instead color a coffee filter with washable markers and add drops of water so the colors will blend together.
⏺We discussed the difference between the colors seen from above earth: blue (water) and green (land and vegetation). We also discussed what creates the green: chlorophyll and why water appears blue rather than clear.

Yesterday, we created this push pin craft. This is great for teaching letter recognition and gross motor skills. This activity can be used to create different shapes and letters.

Mᴀᴛᴇʀɪᴀʟs ɴᴇᴇᴅᴇᴅ:
▶️Cork boards
▶️Push pins
▶️Paper with printed letters of choice

Iɴsᴛʀᴜᴄᴛɪᴏɴs:
▶️Print out letters of choice on regular printer paper. (You can trim the paper to a smaller size)
▶️Place the paper with the printed letter on the cork board and start adding push pins to cover the letter.
▶️Once completed, lightly pull paper off to reveal the push pin letter cork board underneath.
*️⃣Make sure that the cork boards used are thick enough to accommodate the push pins. We had to layer ours with 2 sheets of cork board.

This week, we worked on constructing 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes using heart gummies, toothpicks, Magna-tiles, and flash cards. We placed the gummies on the verticies (or points) on each Magna-tile shape. We then placed the toothpicks on the edges and counted each. We discussed the difference between each shape before we matched them with the flash cards. All of these exercises combined helped reinforce the geometry lesson. As an extension for Lilliana: She constructed 3D shapes by herself and pointed out the verticies, edges, and faces of each. We also discussed the names of the 3D shapes.

Valentine’s Day is my favorite day of the year to get a photo of these two together. They seriously have a bond like no other. And every year, we continue my tradition of making chocolate covered strawberries. I have had this tradition for longer than I can remember. And since we are all enjoying every second in our newly updated kitchen we decided to blend both traditions of our annual mini photo shoot and chocolate covered strawberry making there.

This week, I am really trying to keep the kids busy with Valentine’s Day themed learning activities. We used left over plastic hearts that we purchased from The Dollar Tree last year and glued on little magnets that I purchased on Amazon with loctite to create these heart magnets. We then placed number coins on each Magna-Tile and added the corresponding hearts to each. This activity is great to teach counting but can be used to teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, even/odd numbers, and more!

I also want to stress how important it is to monitor a young child that is using magnets. If ingested, magnets become an extreme danger.

Do you set up invitations to play? I set this one up for Dylan and he was obsessed. He literally played with it for 2 hours in one sitting. And I’m finding that if I set new things up daily, it gives me way more time to get household chores done with minimal interruption. And who doesn’t need more uninterrupted time?
