Hey there, flat sisters! Several have asked what swimsuit styles I wear, so here is a compilation of my different options since my breast cancer surgery.

It’s really been an evolution of rebuilding confidence. The first summer after my double mastectomy flat closure, I really struggled with the empty space and felt like I needed volume to help fill the void. The ruffles and high neck swimsuits with light padding were my go-to for the first year.

It wasn’t until my second year out that I felt comfortable enough to wear the bikinis that I wore prior to my surgery. I realized that I could wear the regular triangle bikini tops and no one really notice that I didn’t have breasts. (Granted, I am aware this is easier for women with smaller frames.) The key is to find minimal padding in these bikini tops, the padding should be flimsy and not rigid. If it’s rigid, you will have gaps between the swimsuit and your chest wall. Triangle tops with fringe or extra texture will add slight volume and create the illusion of some itty bitty boobies in there.

For women with larger frames, I highly recommend the ruffled swimsuits to help even out the chest wall to belly ratio. Other options are a low deep v one piece with layered jewelry or a high neck suit with padding on the inside.

Lately in the style world, I’ve been obsessed over these barrel jeans and cropped blazers. Cropped blazers are a trend that will continue throughout summer and into the fall/winter 2024 season.

For the ladies who don’t want to show their midriffs, I suggest wearing high waisted bottoms or patterned hosiery that complement your relaxed trousers to add an extra fun element.

If purchasing the @freepeople jeans I recommend sizing down one size. I normally wear a 26 and purchased a size 25 instead.

Wearing size 2 long in jeans but ended up getting them hemmed up an inch. Such a great trouser jean. I love the relaxed fit with super high waist, which helps to elongate the legs. I’m 5’6 and probably would have been fine with the regular length for heels.

When it’s 80 degrees in October you’re confused on what to wear fr fr. Here, I chose pinstripe pants paired with a light weight boxed tee to keep it cool today. I love this new pant by Sam Edelman. The color choices are superb and the hardware with black leather detail on the waistline is what sold me😍 I sized up for length and am wearing a size 4, however if you don’t need the extra length stick to your regular size :) (Ps these pants are a steal at $99)

One thing I will say as a flat woman these days, I’m thriving on being able to wear sheer tops and not care if I’m revealing too much because there is nothing there. Its the juxtaposition of it all for me. There may not be anything there but there is still a sex appeal to the playfulness of it all.

I have found to love ruffles, one shoulder suits or halter and triangle bikini tops with light padding when searching for swimsuits.

This Tularosa swimsuit I thought I would never wear again after my surgery, but as time passes, the remembrance of a body with breasts fades and I embrace my new embodiment of health and well-being.
