Last week, I posted my most embarrassing moments of the past year… and in the same spirit of keeping it real… let’s talk about menopause and HOW IT SUCKS. (Yes, I’m shouting.) I’ve been grappling with menopausal symptoms (and there are many) for the past 3 years. It’s like riding a roller coaster and you have no clue how to stop the ride. I detail my journey today on my @YouTube channel. You’re going to need paper and a pen and a big cup of coffee for this one. I would also listen or watch this one when you’re alone so you can really focus. One of the meanest symptoms of menopause that comes with hormonal changes is a slower metabolism and weight gain… specifically weight gain around the tummy. I’ve been told it’s “My new normal” and a “Natural part of aging” by several doctors’…answers I refuse to accept. I wanted to share this photo to show you that I can’t button one of my favorite pairs of jeans. In fact, I don’t fit into many of clothes now. (And I have a lot of clothes as you might imagine.) The weight gain not only messes with my wardrobe, it also messes with my self-esteem and confidence. I did KETO for a few months last year and that helped! (Swipe to see the same jeans one year ago after KETO. They fit perfectly). But KETO wasn’t sustainable for me. I’ve tried intermittent fasting too. I have been doing it since April and haven’t lost a pound. Right now, I’m trying to exercise every day as a possible solution, along with healthy, sensible eating. I’ve tried this one before, though. Remember my year of running? I was running off the pounds or at least trying to… and ran the NYC marathon as well as a huge mountain pass run here in Telluride. That worked too, but again, not really sustainable. The truth is… I have no freakin’ clue how to fix this, I just know that I won’t quit until I find answers.
