My undergrad advisor once told me I wasnโt the type of person who would get to the end of my life and wonder how I ended up there. Although Iโve always been proud of how easily my career goals have seemed to fall into place, I couldnโt help but dwell on all that I didnโt have. Years of moving around for my internships, college, my job had left me perpetually saying goodbye to someone or some place and made romantic relationships incredibly difficult to maintain.

A fellow woman in STEM messaged me last week mentioning how she wishes she could dedicate more time to her professional goals. After looking at her page I was somewhat surprised. She was married with two kids-a milestone my 18 year old self thought Iโd surely have accomplished by now. I still struggle with feeling like Iโm โbehindโ on some aspects of my personal life.

Yet I believe with my whole being that everything happens for a reason. You are exactly where you need to be on your journey. Someone is envious of what you have, so be grateful for it and make a roadmap for how youโll accomplish the rest of your goals. They donโt all have to happen overnight and certainly not all at once.

Society makes a habit of trying to convince us that we donโt have enough, despite all that we already have. Be proud of your journey and know that the pieces will fall into place. You will ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐, when the ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐.
