I’m going to press pause on #brunch for a minute to talk about something that I am most definitely an expert on and that’s working from home! As most of us are getting used to this temporary situation with the kids home from school unexpectedly and businesses allowing us to work remotely for safety you might be wondering: How am I going to be productive at home? Or maybe you aren’t and you think you’ve got this. After 10+ years of working at home I’m telling you it requires some planning and some self discipline! It’s easy to get distracted or depressed when you are home all day! Here are my #protips on how to successfully work from home!
️⃣ Get up around the same time that you did if you were going to your office and take a shower and get dressed for the day!
️⃣ Create a neat and serene work space. I’m blessed to have always had an office in my homes but you can create a nice space anywhere quiet. Add the necessities like your computer, cute pads of paper, pens and something fun you like to look at.
️⃣ Prepare your lunch and daily snacks the day before. It’s even MORE important to do this for your home office otherwise you will spend a lot of time grazing in your fridge and pantry. I salads, proteins, healthy snacks and fruit on hand at all times.
️⃣ Make a list! Sometimes when you aren’t in an office environment it’s easy to get distracted by things around the house like laundry, dishes etc. making a list will prepare you and keep you on track for the day! Stay away from household chores. They got done while you were at an office and they will get done while in this new scenario too!
️⃣ Know when to step away! Just because you are working from home doesn’t mean you have to now work at all hours of the day. If you have a 9-5 job, stay within those hours. Turn your computer off at 5 and enter back into your personal life!
️⃣ Talk to people! Keep in contact with your co-workers not just by text, make a call, so FaceTime. Human interaction even if it’s remotely is important so that you still feel connected to your work community.
