You guys, today is a very special day in our family because it is Type 1 Diabetes awareness day. As some of you know, this past May, my beautiful 17 year old stepdaughter Gabi was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital as she was beginning to pass out. We were told by doctors she was on her way to going into a diabetic coma and we needed to get her to CHOA immediately. This was when we learned of her new diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. It was such a tough thing for her to accept especially as a teenager but Wow! She has blown us all away. Although it has been the hardest thing she has ever had to deal with and will continue to live with for the rest of her life, she handles it all with such beauty and grace. She is one of the most selfless people I know and never is negative or feels sorry for herself. This is a child I admire and feel so inspired by every day. I could go on and on about how wonderful and strong she is but she shared such an amazing perspective on the matter on her Instagram and her dad and I couldn’t be prouder of her.
