Last year whenever we had a vacation come up where I’d have to wear a swimsuit, I’d inevitably get SO frustrated and discouraged before we left. I’d go to pack my suitcase, and try on swimsuits to bring and always feel so bad. Nothing fit right. They would all be just slightly too tight and would be digging in, in all the wrong places. I’d literally feel like a stuffed sausage 😂 Maybe I shouldn’t admit that, but I’m human. I think we all have days where regardless of what we look like, we just don’t feel confident and it can put you in the worst mood. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Towards the end of the last year, I finally realized something (which now seems so obvious). Over the last several years I’ve gained about 15 lbs. So why was I still trying to fit into pieces that I wore when I was 15 lbs smaller? Finally I was like—Claire, maybe you just need to order the next size up and you wouldn’t be having all these issues!!! Problem solved.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For whatever reason, I feel like when it comes to how we look, we are so resistant to accepting what our “new normal” is. Like, why try to continue to squeeze into a small when maybe now your body is a medium? I mean, who cares! Even last year, I would still have thoughts of what I could do to get back to my old weight so I could fit into things (like those swimsuits) that I used to wear. Looking back it seems so silly, because I feel great now and am happy with my lifestyle. I just had to get over the mental part and allow myself to get on board with my “new normal” —which honestly, feels way better than the old!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I just wanted to share that this morning because I know how hard it can be to see your body go through changes, and feel frustrated that things don’t “look how they used to.” But we grow, our bodies change.
