My name is Sha’Ri (shyree) Smyth. I’m a wife and mama of three girls and a rambunctious 1 year old boy- he’s the one throwing shade in the corner. I have a masters in health and wellness, I’m a certified health coach and I’m currently getting my PhD in health education and promotion. I am the poster child for busy. My medical records say I have lupus, fibromyalgia, severe anxiety, ptsd and depression. My past shows I was rapped and molested by my stepfather. As a child and even young adult I allowed my mother to mentally and physically abuse me. I repeated cycles I didn’t even know I was repeating like poverty, drinking and more.

I know what it’s like to want to just feel normal and not be held back by what we can’t control. I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and be ashamed, and even confused by what was staring back at me. I know what it’s like to feel like a human lab rat and just want to be “normal”.

I used my knowledge of the human body to get off of 13 prescriptions and three antidepressants. Drop over 80lbs, have the kids doctors said I wasn’t capable of having. My lupus is in remission and I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve struggled with my weight self esteem, loving others, self love and more.

I say all this to say don’t allow labels to define you. Never allow your past to hold you back or make you think you are unworthy of his grace and love. You deserve to be healthy, you deserve to not be tied down to medications. You deserve to live the quality of life you want. You deserve to receive the blessing that God has for you. Never doubt your worth. You aren’t alone and you woke up when as I post this over 75,000 people have already died today. There is purpose in your breath 🥰

It isn’t easy keeping a four year old entertained. It’s especially hard when a one year old is constantly jumping on you.
Was super excited when I found this educational toy on #amazon for less than $15. Total mom win because I was out of ideas for making up games and trying to re spark the interest she had in some of her older games. Covid has really caused us to have to rethink even how we educate because the girls are constantly getting new things to keep them from getting bored.
So far she is enjoying the colors, being able to build, looking and aligning the shapes. The various problems it has for her to solve and how each one is slightly harder than the previous one.

I struggled with food, not only my love of food but the excuses I made around it. A lot of people won’t admit they have an unhealthy relationship with food. We need to understand that an eating disorder is so much more than anorexia and bulimia. One of the hardest things I dealt with was binge eating, one of the most common reasons for binge eating is an attempt to manage unpleasant emotions such as stress, depression, loneliness, fear, and anxiety. When you have a bad day, it can seem like food is your only friend.

This is one of the reasons why I’m very passionate about detoxing from diet culture. Eating disorders are mental health conditions, and the brain and the gut are related and research has shown a connection.

Why I do what I do is because I have been there, the yoyo weight, the dry skin, the headaches, the death sentence, the unanswered questions, hair falling out, dark circles, unexplained sicknesses, the vicious cycle of prescriptions and pain meds that left me feeling like a lab rat. Skipping meals, making excuses for not eating or overeating. I want to teach my daughters and my son to break the generational curses of love, acceptance, spiritual, financial, and diet culture.
And I now know if I hadn’t addressed it, I would never be able to help them, I don’t have all the answers, and sometimes I want to throw in the towel because it seems no one cares but me and no one truly wants change, but I refuse to let my babies down.
